Northeastern University

Admission Status

Students may be admitted into the program as one of three statuses: regular, conditional or provisional. There is also the possibility to take courses toward a degree in CSDC with a special student status.

Regular Status

Student is accepted without any condition on their admission.

Conditional Status

In very rare circumstances, a student may be admitted with some pieces of admission application pending. For example, a student's reference may have called prior to the deadline for admission and provided a glowing verbal reference, but requested an extension on the actual on the actual letter of reference. In this case, the student may be admitted conditionally based on the verbal reference but will not achieve regular student status until the physical letter of reference has been received and reviewed.

Provisional Status

Provisional acceptance refers to students who are admitted to the program provisionally. They are allowed to register for a total of twelve semester hours of course work for which they must maintain a 3.00 grade point average to continue in the program.

Special Student Status

Special Student Status allows students to take courses on a non-matriculated basis. Students may take a maximum of 12 semester hours of credit that they may later apply to a degree in the CSDC program, provided the courses are applicable. Special Students may be considered for degree programs only after submission of a complete application package. The granting of special student status does not guarantee admission.
